Bilingual Education in the South of france, Sophia Antipolis, Bilingaul Schools on the Cote d'Azur, EBICA

News
Welcome

Situated in the very heart of Sophia Antipolis is EBICA, Ecole Bilingue Internationale Cote D’Azur which opened its doors in 2006. The school takes children from the age of 3 years (Maternelle, Preschool, Reception) to 14 years old (3e, year 10, 9th Grade) and offers them a bilingual education in both French and English curriculums.

The development of the combined curriculums is based on the conviction that school ‘helps to develop a child in a changing world, teaches him or her to be self sufficient, study independently and to become a successful and responsible citizen of our world.’

It is through the educational support, the individual care of each student, the relevance of the academic programmes and the high quality of teaching staff that EBICA achieves this objective.

The Child, our focus.
The concept is based on a very important educational principle: that of encouraging children to become self-sufficient and successful by passing on the pleasure of learning. Small-size classes ensure than the children benefit from individual attention and close supervision. Each child is given support and encouraged with positive stimulation.

The curriculum consists of a common-core syllabus which emphasizes the similarities between the two languages and a programme that is specific to each language. The French programme follows the Education Nationale requirements and the English programme follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).

In Preschool Montessori material is used and an early reading programme is also offered. With emphasis being placed on the child’s development, cultural activities and sport also have an important place in the programme. We aim to keep a balance between the development of each class, of each child and the high standards of our educational level.

Teachers with a passion

A team of 11 qualified and experienced teachers carry out thorough educational work, while also benefiting from in house training and knowledge exchange. They regularly compare results and discuss each pupil’s progress. Whether their mother tongue is French or English, the teachers use traditional and interactive educational tools. Being open minded, they maintain a close relationship with parents because they are convinced that education needs to have parental support.

An opening to our diverse World
17 different nationalities benefit from a multicultural structure from Preschool to 9th Grade. From an early age, they discover other cultures and other traditions. An extraordinary opportunity and wealth for children who will learn to appreciate and understand the diversity of our world.
